Plenty to ponder for Blues

LIMERICK FC’S chances of promotion were dealt a body blow last weekend as the SuperBlues went down 2-0 to Monaghan United at Jackman Park.
The defeat sees Limerick in fourth spot in the league, now 13 points off of the top.

Limerick however are just three points off of second place which is currently occupied by their Munster rivals Cork City.
The 878 fans in attendance last Friday night were treated to a good game of football, with Limerick failing to convert some very easy opportunities.
The sorrow of defeat was compounded when new signing Joe Gamble was sent off for a second yellow card in the dying minutes.
Limerick face into a bye weekend this week. The SuperBlues will be next in action on August 5th as they travel to Waterford United for a First Division game.
Limerick’s next home game will be on August 19th against Salthill Devon in the league. Before then, Limerick face Cork City in the EA Sports Cup.
This game is the semi final of the tournament with Limerick only 90 minutes away from a Cup final appearance. The other semi final sees, Sligo Rovers been paired with North West rivals Derry City.
In other news, Limerick FC Barry Sheedy has been called up for the Republic of Ireland Under 18 squad to play Wales. The match takes place on Wednesday August 3 at The New Oval, home ground of Holyhead Hotspur FC, kick-off 6:00pm.
Speaking of being called up to squads, the aforementioned Joe Gamble will be part of the Airtricity XI this weekend who take part in the Dublin Super Cup.
Gamble will rub shoulders with the Celtic, Inter Milan and Manchester City stars at the Aviva Stadium.
Tickets for the Dublin Super Cup are still available. Punters can log on to www.thedublinsupercup.com or www.ticketmaster.com for more details.
