40 craft workers for Castleconnell
CASTLECONNELL will host its 22nd annual craft fair on Sunday October 30, Monday 31 from 12noon to 6pm each day.
“All profit from this fair goes back to help the local community,” reports painter Dorothy Hogan, who specialises in flowers and landscapes in oils and acrylics. “It will be held in the Castle Oaks House Hotel and has 40 craftworkers exhibiting”.

Expect ceramics, metal works, art by names such as Barbara Hartigan, toy crafts, artisan soaps, handmade cards, jewellery, wood turning and furniture.

Belltable Studio fosters talent
SCRATCH is a curated event where in theatre makers can develop and present new works in progress.
Participants will be offered development space in the Belltable, dramaturgical support, and an opportunity for showcase and feedback at  Friday December 2, Saturday 3 and Friday 9.
Two shows from the first SCRATCH event in May of this year went on to receive seven award nominations between them in this year’s Absolut Fringe, with Follow winning the Spirit of the Fringe award.

Baroque series at All Saints
CASTLECONNELL features again in this column with a nod to Tuesday November 8’s concert in the Baroque series taking place in All Saints Church.
Camerata Kilkenny is the ensemble featuring for the 8pm concert. Swiss musician Maya Homburger is a founding member and her principal instrument is an Italian violin made by Antonio dalla Costa in Treviso, 1740.
She and four others will play JS Bach’s ‘The Musical Offering, BWV 1079.

Leonard Tinney Duo
VIOLINIST Catherine Leonard and pianist Hugh Tinney give an afternoon recital next Sunday October  30 in St.Mary’s Cathedral.  Presented in the Church Classics series of concerts in beautiful churches, the programme  combines two Beethoven sonatas (Op.12 No.1 and Op.30 No.2) with an early sonata by Ravel.
There are also two contrasted shorter works by Lutoslawski. Tickets at the door, 4pm concert.
