Ulster Bank League Weekend Previews 2/2/13

-

THE ULSTER Bank league is really hotting up now. Garryowen missed their chance to go top last weekend. Young Munster’s game against Dolphin was sent off and UL Bohemians managed to increase the gap between themselves and Shannon. Round 10 awaits.

Division 1A
Shannon  V UL Bohemian
Friday 7.30pm Thomond Park
SHANNON’s new management team have helped to revive their fortunes in recent weeks but the most successful Irish club side are still at the foot of the table. Colm Tucker returns to face his former side and will be more aware than anyone that victory is essential to avoid a relegation dogfight. Shannon will be without three key players due to the Club International while Bohs will only be missing one. Expect a tough contest but with Bohs finally returning to winning ways last week, confidence should be high and enough to see them through
Verdict: Bohs by a score

Saturday Anglesea Road 2.30pm
Old Belvedere V Young Munster
THE COOKIES have been having a good season and will expect to kick on with their playoff prospects. With Denis Leamy coaching an ever improving pack, Munsters should be too physically strong for their mid-table opponents. Especially since they had a weekend off last weekend.
Verdict: Munsters by a good few

Garryowen V Cork Constitution
Saturday 4pm Dooradoyle
Having been hammered at home last week, the Dooradoyle men will be determined for redemption and to ensure that their high standing doesn’t falter after such a great start to the season. Con are hot on their tails and this should turn out to be a hard-fought affair.
Verdict: Home advantage should ensure a narrow victory

Old Crescent V Galwegians
Saturday Rosbrien 2.30pm
CRESCENT have been in good form of late but Galwegians are flying high and should have enough class to see off the challenge of a resurgent Crescent side.
Verdict: Away win
