Record entry for Limerick Regatta

Limerick Regatta 2013 picTHE 2013 Limerick Regatta which takes place this Saturday May 11 has attracted a record entry that will see over 400 crews representing 32 clubs from all around Ireland descending on the village of O’Brien’s Bridge for an action packed day’s rowing.
The Regatta is held in O’Briens Bridge as the tidal conditions in Limerick City do not allow enough time to stage an event of this size. With this year’s record entry there will be a race every four minutes from 8.30am to 7.30pm.  All of Limerick’s rowing clubs will be out in force challenging themselves against the best the country has to offer over the 1,500metre course.
The Regatta is run on a beautiful stretch of water in O’Brien’s Bridge with plenty of vantage points for spectators all along the bank.  There is no entry fee for spectators, as everyone is welcome to come along. The banks of the river allow for picnics, family walks and of course, rowing so why not enjoy this wonderful spectacle and the best Irish Rowing has to offer?
