LIMERICK band Leading Armies, featuring The Markevin Light Orchestra, have come together to bring a one off showcase of good vibes and good music. “Strong, talented musicians are fruitful in Limerick. The circle is small. The ideas are large. Connecting everyone on a new level to create something innovative and special is key this Thursday 27”, says the band.

In the following weeks after this gig expect a two-part video which features adapted songs with the orchestra.

It’s been a very busy 2013 so far for Limerick’s Leading Armies. On the back of a trip to Canada as winners of Indie Week 2012 the Limerick sextet has gone from strength to strength. This year has seen the Funk/ Reggae outfit tipped as ‘Ones to Watch’ by Hotpress Magazine, headline the Button Factory (Dublin), the Big Top (Limerick), play the Jagermeister Freezer Sessions, alongside We Cut Corners, and R.S.A.G., and play support to ‘Ham Sandwich’, and most recently the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.

As well as making a name for themselves as a memorable live act, they have also been working very hard in the studio to put together their first official release, recording in Limerick, Dublin and Toronto.

The Leading Armies L.P. entitled ‘Let’s Get Serious!’ which is due for release in September 2013, has been in production over the last year.

The seven track L.P., ‘Let’s Get Serious’ was recorded in Bishop’s Palace Studios, Limerick, (owned by Noel Hogan of The Cranberries) produced by Owen Lewis, Temple Lane Studios, Dublin and in Revolution Studios Toronto by producer Rob DeVito.

As for gigs, the remaining Summer months are “chock-a-block’, with BellyBang Festival, (Tipperary), Currafest Festival (Galway) and Knockanstockan Summer Festival (Wicklow) fast approaching and a triple header Irish tour with Cork funk band Jericho and Síomha Brock, a songstress from Ennis, which will see them play from Dingle to Dublin and all in between.

Support on the night from The Hip-Neck Blues Collective.
