Limerick v Offaly - GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship Qualifier Round 2Ballybrown GAA

BALLYBROWN minors travelled to Ahane on Friday July 26 to play Ahane in the premier minor hurling championship. Ahane raced into an early lead but Ballybrown stormed back. Michael Davoren scored our only goal and the final score was Ballybrown 1-10 Ahane 1-8.

Preparations are well underway for our third round senior hurling championship match against Hospital/Herbertstown on Friday August 2 in Bruff at 7:15pm. As usual Ballybrown support is expected in great numbers and will hopefully make their presence known to all by way of vocal team support.

Claughaun GAA

THE intermediate hurlers are in championship action v Mungret on Sunday August 3 at 7:15pm in Ballybrown. Please come to support the team.

St Michael’s minor hurlers recorded a fine win v Naomh Bríd on Friday July 26. The final score was St Michael’s 9-14 Naomh Bríd 1-08.

Claughaun are delighted to announce details of a golf classic held in association with Milford Care Centre. The classic will take place on the weekend of August 16 and 17 at Nenagh Golf Club. Tee times for Friday 16 are 2pm-5pm, while Saturday 17 is from 9am-noon and 1:30pm-4pm.

Doon GAA

CONGRATULATIONS from all at Doon GAA to Limerick’s minor hurlers on their Munster final victory over Waterford last week. It was a proud evening for the parishes of Doon and Oola, for the families of our local boys involved and especially for the lads themselves – Richie, Darragh, Dean, Pat, Eoghan and Stephen. We wish them all the very best in their All Ireland semi-final v Galway on August 18.

Results: minor hurling championship Doon 3-20 Adare 0-7, Brian Butler Cup Final (and East Junior A championship) Ahane 2-15 Doon 0-14.

Fixture: senior hurling championship round 3 Doon v Granagh-Ballingarry on Friday 2 at 6pm in Kilmallock.

Na Piarsaigh GAA

NA PIARSAIGH won their third match in the premier minor hurling championship on Friday July 26 when they had the better of a Kilmallock and Effin combination. The ability of our forwards to get goals proved the difference and we won on a score of 6-13 to 0-16.

The junior hurlers got their reward for persistence and a never say die approach as they attempted to garner their first points of the campaign, which they managed with a 2-10 to 1-12 win over Ballybrown.

We wish our senior hurlers the best of luck this coming weekend versus Patrickswell in the winner takes all championship clash in the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday 3 at 7.30pm.

Oola GAA

IN THE past week Oola were out in competitive action in both the under 16 and under 14 championship. The under 16s played Kilpeacon (Creocra and Fedamore) in Creocra last Sunday 28, recording an 8-15 to 0-5 win.

The under 14s played Galbally in Oola in the sixth round of the championship. Having already beaten Galbally in the Peil na nOg competition Oola faced a stronger side this time round, but we ran out winners on a scoreline of 1-13 to 2-3.

Fixtures: Thursday August 1, under 12 football, time and opposition to be confirmed. Monday August 5, junior football championship v Fedamore in Fedamore, time TBC; under 16 football championship v Bruff in Oola at 7:30pm.

Pallasgreen GAA

ON Friday July 26 Pallasgreen took on Ballybricken/Bohermore in the East Junior B hurling championship in Boher. The final score was 4-9 to 0-10 in favour of Pallasgreen.

Pallasgreen junior footballers took part in the Knockane tournament, run as part of the Sarsfield 320 celebrations. On Thursday 25 they took on Emly in the semi-final, with Pallasgreen winning 0-12 to 2-4.

Sunday 28 saw Pallasgreen return to Knockane to take on Solohead, who outclassed Pallasgreen in every department, winning by 4-5 to 0-5.
