LIMERICK is the raunchiest county in Ireland – that’s according to sexpert Sharon Tucker – and the adult boutique owner said women are leading the charge with eight in every ten customers being female.
“Since the release of Fifty Shades of Grey I’ve seen an overwhelming increase in the amount of women wanting to explore and learn more about products. They’re also interested in storyline DVD’s. There is a massive uptake with bondage products such as whips and handcuffs,”said the owner of the Thelma and Louise adult boutique on Lower Shannon Street.
The 41-year-old said that Ireland is definitely embracing a more liberal and fun attitude to sex.
“The outlook towards sex has changed utterly since our grandparents time. I was helping people in the shop one day and an old lady of about 80 came in and proclaimed ‘This is a disgrace!’. When IÂ asked her if she was okay, she said, ‘It’s a disgrace something like this wasn’t around in my day’
Sharon, who lists her top three products as the rampant rabbit vibrator, silver pleasure balls and the we-vibe 3, said Thelma and Louise is a sophisticated adult boutique. “We are informed by burlesque themes and are strictly over 18.  I am a single mother and proud business woman,” she said.
The mother of two, who is heavily involved in the charity, Self Help Africa is travelling to there in November to do the Great Ethiopia Run. She is also organising a ‘Back to School’ night for the charity in Clohessy’s Bar on Friday August 23.
“It will be great night of fun where people can dress up as schoolgirls,” she said. Tickets are €10 and available from Thelma and Louise.
