The premier league team’s support for Sunday September 1′s Milford Hospice Harvest Fair is especially welcome in the light of it becoming an annual partnership, with manager Stuart Taylor stating, “I hope this will be an ongoing relationship over the years and for as long as possible. And I hope that when I leave the club that the support will go on”.

The Glasgwegian was speaking at the press launch for the fair at UL Sports Arena which will be fair’s site for the for the first time on Sunday 1, running at the earlier hours of 11am to 4pm.

His stance was backed by ‘Blues captain Pat Purcell who spoke of active help by individual players as well as the Limerick team as a whole: “Being a local I know a lot about the work done at Milford Hospice and the people there over the years. This a great opportunity for the players to become involved and give what support we can”.

The captain also confirmed that his boys in blue will have a presence on the day, happy to sign autographs and pose for photographs with fans.

Mr Joe Murphy is chairperson of the board of Milford Care Centre and for two years now, has chaired the harvest fair committee. While he is mindful that last year’s proceeds from the family fun day exceeded €100,000, he said “we are not in a position to make any targets this year on funding forecasts. Our enthusiasm for the day to be able to deliver to the hospice is as good this year as last and we understand that some people may find they are not able to give.

“We have more volunteers than before and are still looking, so if anyone can help, please get in touch with Anne-Marie or Melissa at our Fundraising office”.

He is happy about the campus site extending out to the SuperBowl area, allowing for a children’s play area that will be contained and supervised. Mr Murphy looks ahead to competitions for older children, egg and spoon races, pig on a spit, wheel of fortune, bric-a-brac and much more.

Goods can be donated from Monday 19 to  Thursday 29, daily from 9am to 8pm, with only cakes being accepted on the morning of September 1.
