GARDAI are investigating an armed robbery on William Street where a raider produced a kitchen knife at a retail premises on the city centre street.

The business was entered by the partially masked male, wearing an orange/mustard hoodie closed tightly around his face, he had a sleeveless fluorescent jacket on with green print on the back, wearing tracksuit pants and white runners.

Gardai say that the raider approached the counter in the premises armed with a large kitchen knife and demanded money from the personnel in the premises.

Upon activation of the panic alarm the culprit fled the scene on foot turning left up William Street.

Assaulted for phone

A YOUNG man was left traumatised and injured on Upper Henry Street in the early hours of last Monday morning when two males approached and struck him in the face before taking his mobile phone.

The young thugs were described as being of medium build where one was wearing a black hoodie and the other male was wearing a lighter colour hoodie with white stripes.

Thieves early for school

A NATIONAL School in the Dooradoyle area was broken into last week.

The burglars gained entry through the skylight on the roof but it is understood that nothing was taken during the raid.

Gardai in Roxboro road are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward with any information they have regarding this incident.

Watches and jewellery taken

A ROBBERY in the Lower Park road area of Corbally in the early hours of last Sunday morning is under investigation by gardai after an extensive amount of valuable jewellery was taken.

The Culprits are described as one male, slim build, brown hair, mid to late twenties accompanied by a female companion in her early twenties.

Entry was gained to property through a down stairs window; a number of rooms were ransacked during the course of this incident.

The items included five Guess watches, one distinctive Guess watch is rose gold in colour, three Tiffany necklaces, one with a blue key charm, another with a blue heart charm and the last with a silver lock.

Gardai at Mayorstone Park are investigating and would appreciate any information from members of the public. Perhaps someone saw something suspicious in the area between the hours of 05:00am and 5.30am.

Theft of antiques watches

A BURGLARY at a property on Aisling Drive in Clareview is under investigation after entry was gained through the rear of the house.

Gardai say that a witness observed three males leaving the property through the front door.

A substantial amount of Jewellery was taken, an antique watch approximately 80 years old, gold tie pins, gold bracelet and a pearl fob.
