LOCAL jobs are at risk with female fashion retailer A|wear closing its doors at its city centre and Crescent Shopping Centre bases this week.

The closures took place this Thursday after the company was placed in receivership. Latzur Limited, trading as A|wear, had been under examinership since October 8 last. The purpose of the examinership was to re-structure A|wear so as to put the business on a sustainable footing, and to protect as many jobs as possible.

In a statement, the retailer confirmed that they had appointed Ken Fennell of Kavanagh Fennell as receiver to the business. The company also stated “sales projections have not materialised and no viable investor was found”.

“The business will continue to trade under receivership, however, the receiver will assess the feasibility of trading some of the stores over the coming days and it is inevitable that some stores will cease to trade.”
