Chocolate eggs hatch for an earlier Easter

DSCN3863THE Christmas decorations may only have just come down in many homes, but it seems that Easter has already arrived in some Limerick shops.

Easter Sunday takes place on April 20 this year but with fluffy bunnies of the Cadbury variety already jostling for space on retail shelves, it would seem the holidays are now just rolling into each other.

Having only scoffed our way through the festive tins of Roses and Quality Street, we are now faced with the prospect of Easter eggs and chocolate rabbits.

One local shopkeeper explained: “We make our orders for Christmas each year in January or February and we start thinking about Easter as early as August. The holidays just run straight into each other now. You are just finished with one holiday and there’s another to take its place straight away.

The beginning of January does seem a bit mad to be thinking of Easter when most people still have the Christmas tree up”, he said.
