THE Bishops of the Catholic and Church of Ireland Dioceses of Limerick have joined forces to help the hundreds of residents affected by the flooding in St Mary’s Parish.

The ‘St Mary’s Parish Relief Fund’, established by Catholic Bishop Brendan Leahy and Church of Ireland Bishop Trevor Williams, will be administered in association with the Society of St Vincent de Paul who will receive a direct contribution from the Catholic Diocese of Limerick and the Limerick Social Service Council.

All monies raised will go towards providing food, fuel, clothing and blankets to the flood victims.

Bishop Leahy said that people had huge amounts of personal belongings destroyed and in an area with significant socio-economic disadvantage, this had hit really hard.

Bishop Williams said that the disaster was met with a wonderfully generous response by those who want to help.
