Judges begin delivering lengthy verdict in Collins murder trial

IT is a case of standing room only in Court number 11 of the Special Criminal Court in Dublin’s Criminal Courts of Justice building as the two murder accused men, Wayne Dundon and Nathan Killeen await the verdicts of the three judges of the non jury court in the Roy Collins murder trial.

36 year old Wayne Dundon and 24 year Nathan Killeen have denied any role in the murder of the 35 year old father and Limerick businessman Roy Collins on April 2, 2009.

The State through senior counsels Michael O’Higgins and Sean Guerin, that Dundon ordered the murder while he was in custody at Wheatfield Prison and that Nathan Killeen was the getaway driver for another man, 28-year-old James Dillion.

Dillion was the gunman who shot Roy once in the chest.

He died shortly after being brought to hospital in Limerick.

The three judges have begun reading the judgement.
