€200,000 worth of heroin seized after double house raid

HEROIN valued in the region of €200,000 has been discovered at houses in Meelick and in Killaloe on Tuesday night last.

Gardai from the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit, operating on a foot of a warrant, searched the two houses at around 10pm where the discoveries were made.

The significant seizure of heroin led to the arrest of one man in his 40s by gardai at Henry Street.

Subsequently, he was brought to Roxboro Garda Station for questioning under section 2 of the Drugs Trafficking Act and can be detained in garda custody for up to seven days.

The drugs have been sent to the garda forensic testing laboratory for further analysis.
