Gun seized and two arrested in Limerick

TWO teens who fled from gardai were arrested when a firearm was recovered in Limerick this Friday.

The discovery was made by gardai who were on patrol in the south side of the city after a group of males fled from them.

Two teens were arrested at McDonough Avenue in the Janesboro area and gardai are interviewing them in custody at Roxboro Road Garda Station.

When the group fled, one round of ammunition along with an iron bar, a baseball bat and a number of other items were also seized.

The weapon has been sent for analysis and is currently undergoing ballistic testing.

The two suspects are currently being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and can be held until Sunday evening before they must be either charged or released.
