Pedestrian tragically killed named locally

IMG_0428.JPGA PEDESTRIAN who was killed while crossing the road on Main Street, Hospital has been named locally as 44-year-old Vincent Ryan.

Tragically, Mr Ryan was pronounced dead at the scene when he succumbed to his injuries when he was struck by a passing car  shortly after 2am on Tuesday morning.

The remains of the 44-year-old were removed from the scene and taken to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem was carried out.

A Garda forensic investigation is yet to determine the cause of the accident but local councillors have said that this tragedy highlights the need to make Hospital safer for pedestrians and road users.
