THE COURAGE, dedication and excellence of Limerick and Munster’s finest eateries will now pursue national hounours after over 400 of the food industry’s professionals gathered this Tuesday night for the Restaurant Association of Ireland 2015 regional food awards.

Adare’s Restaurant 1826 under the stewardship of chef owner Wade Murphy and his wife Elaine, took to the spoils for the best restaurant in Limerick while Wade landed the double as the best chef in the city and county.

“Delighted and overwhelmed that how I’d best describe this for the restaurant and the team. People look for value for money in their eating out experience and that requires real effort and we are just so pleased that the work has paid off,” commented Wade afterwards, pictured left receiving his award for best chef in Limerick.

And that was the same feeling experienced by the other Limerick winners on the night which included; Collins Bar as best gastro pub; Canteen as best casual dining venue, Sash at the Pery No1 Hotel for best wine experience; The Mustard Seed as the best for customer service; The Oakroom Restaurant at Adare Manor Hotel for the best hotel restaurant and AROI landed the best newcomer award.

Chef owner at Canteen, Paul Williams said that both he and the team are “delighted with the award and the accolade of recognition as the casual dining scene in Limerick is changing for the good.”

Speaking at the awards, Chief Executive of the Restaurants Association of Ireland Adrian Cummins said; “The Irish restaurant scene is internationally recognised for its high calibre of restaurateurs and chefs. These awards celebrate the people that make the restaurant sector the dynamic and exciting industry it is. They are the people who provide 72,000 jobs to our economy and generate revenue in excess of €2 billion. We’re recognising the talent, hard work and commitment that everyone here gives to the food industry. Tonight, everyone is a winner.”

All County winners now compete for the Regional and All Ireland titles which will be announced at the Irish Restaurant Awards in the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel, Dublin on Monday May 25 next.
