NO LESS than King John’s Castle is launch pad for Limerick Sings 3rd International Choral Festival this Friday June 26 at 6pm, with local choral ambassadors welcoming the overseas believers. Each troupe will have the opportunity to sing an impromptu piece, warming into an event packed weekend.

For Joe Public who loves music and Limerick’s terrific tradition of formal choirs, take a cue from RTE lyric fm’s Lorcan Murray, hosting Saturday’s Celebratory Concert at 8pm in St Mary’s Cathedral.

This Festival has joined forces with Wexford woman Zoe Franciscus, now working out of Seattle. She founded Perform International, a company that brings choirs and orchestras all over the world on tours to international festivals. This year Franciscus brings two from Spokane in Washington, which is twinned with Limerick; next year she plans on five.

Sunday’s big event is the 3pm Choral Summer Prom Concert featuring this event’s nine choirs together at University Concert Hall. Nigel Dugdale presents.
