GAA – Limerick Under 14 Team chase All Ireland Glory

2015 U14 Limerick v Offaly-225LIMERICK’S Under 14 Ladies Football Team will be attempting to win back to back All Ireland honours when they take on Derry in the All Ireland Final this Saturday, July 4 at 2 pm in Ballymahon in Longford. Limerick face formidable opponents Derry, who are going in search of their first All Ireland underage success.

The Limerick girls will be determined to get off to a better start than the All Ireland Semi Final v Offaly, when they found themselves six points down after fifteen minutes but went on to win by four points at the final whistle. It will take a full sixty minute performance from the Limerick girls to overcome this Derry side, who have been putting up big scores in their recent games. Limerick will be without twins Anna and Maura Shine as well as Ciara Hynes and Jemma Duhig for this encounter, so some enforced changes can be expected from the All Ireland Semi final lineup.

Limerick will be looking to Aoife Hickey, Laura Nash, Chloe Cleary, Kerrie Guinea, Robyn Leahy, Emer O Keeffe and Ella Whelan to lead the way. Another close encounter is expected as a large and vocal Limerick support travel to Ballymahon to cheer on the Limerick girls.

Manager Barry O’Halloran said that “It is great to be back in the All Ireland Final for the second successive year. The girls are very well prepared and are eagerly looking forward to this All Ireland Final. Our girls have put in a massive commitment for several months and have improved with each game but we will need a full sixty minute performance, to retain the All Ireland Championship. It is vital that we get off to a good start. It would be great for Limerick Ladies underage football to win two consecutive All Ireland U 14 Finals – we are leaving no stone unturned in our efforts to do so. With representation from 17 clubs in the county, we are hoping that there will be strong and vocal support,  for the girls as we try to repeat the success of 2014. ”
