Gardai arrest man over Keane shooting in Limerick

A MAN in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of Christy Keane this Monday as he walked to the gym at the University of Limerick.

54-year-old Christy Keane was gunned down by two masked men who approached the convicted drug dealer at 6:45am last Monday morning after he left his jeep at the car park near to the Sports Arena.

The convicted drug dealer who was previously jailed for ten years, was hit a number of times in both the chest and arms before he crawled to the running track where the alarm was raised.

The father of two remains in critical condition at the University Hospital Limerick.

On Monday night, gardai arrested a man in his 30s and have detained him at Henry Street garda station under the provisions of section 50.
