Doyle, who won Bronze in the 100m Breaststroke along with securing a Rio 2016 qualification time earlier in the week, progressed from this morning’s heats to the semi-final in 9th place in a time of 31.57 seconds. She was joined in the semi-final by Sycerika McMahon who placed 12th overall in the heats in 32.02.

Both Doyle and McMahon improved on their times in the semi-final posting 31.21 and 31.84 seconds respectively, but it was Doyle who advanced to tomorrow’s Final.

Ukraine’s Mariia Liver will be the top seed going into the Final as she clocked 30.69, meaning Doyle will need to be at her best and close to her Irish record of 30.93 to be in with a chance of medalling.

Ending their World University Games campaign today Jordan Sloan (23.69) and Dan Sweeney (24.49) competed in the 50m Freestyle.

Fiona Doyle will be the only Irish swimmer in action tomorrow, the final day of pool swimming, when she competes the 50m Breaststroke Final at 11.12am.
