Fortnight arts fest for Roches Street

DETAILS of Roches Street Traders Arts Festival 2015 opening next Monday 7 at Lily’s at 6pm were announced by chairman Roy Finucane of Tax Assist and guest, Colm O’Brien of Carambola Kidz.

60 artists will show mixed media works in 30 companies along the street. At least 25 per cent of sale proceeds will benefit CARI and Rape Crisis Mid West with some artists donating all less the cost of framing/ materials used.

Colm O’Brien, best selling author of ‘Feeding Johnny’, is on the board of CARI and Blue Box children’s charities. He made the point at the launch in O’Brien’s Bar that in his work as a trader on Cruises Street with Bewley’s, pioneering lunchtime theatre in this city, and with Limerick City Business Association, that he always held Roches Street to be a model of owner-managed enterprise and collaborative work with communities and the arts.

This annual festival – 2015 is the 13th – has raised more than €100,000 for local charities to date, embracing those such as ADAPT Domestic Abuse Services.

Look forward to entertainment by Arts Connect on Saturday 12 on the street, music and more from 10am to 4pm and savoury fish bites from Sadlier’s. This visual arts colloboration will run until 19th.
