164 jobs announcement for Limerick

ANNOUNCEMENTS this Monday of 144 new jobs for the city bring to 160 the number of Limerick positions announced in less than a week.

Mobile telecommunications provider, Three is to take on 100 new staff at its call centre in Plassey.

Meanwhile, US water purification company, MECO, announced that Limerick has been chosen as the company’s European headquarters with the immediate creation of 44 jobs.

And Meco President George Gsell, said that while his company is “a conservative company” he does envisage they will expand and employ even more people in high-end positions going forward.

There was good news at Shannon this week also, with the announcement of 20 new jobs have been announced on the back of a six million euro investment by United Technologies Corporation.

The company provides high-technology systems and services to the building and aerospace industries.

The positions will be based at its maintenance, repair and overhaul centre in Shannon for its UTC Aerospace Systems business.

Ministers Michael Noonan, Jan O’Sullivan and John Bruton were on hand for the Three and MECO jobs announcements.
