A YOUNG woman who fell into the water at a quayside in Limerick has been rescued after an emergency response was enacted this Saturday night.

Shortly after 8:30pm the alarm was raised when the young woman, understood to be in her early 20s, got into difficulty in the water. It is not known yet how she came to be in the river.

However, three units of Limerick City Fire and Rescue were deployed to Steamboat Quay, but it is believed that the woman may have been taken from the water by a passerby, but she was not responsive upon their arrival.
