THE SMALL Art Works’ exhibition will open later today, Thursday 19 at 6pm at CB1 O’Connell Street, by USIT, with LSAD’s Aine NicGiolla Coda officiating.

It brings together artists from various parts, three of these based locally: Gavin Hogg, Sheila Richardson and Nuala O’Sullivan. The Thurles man is PJ O’Conell, Dermot Browne is working out of Cork and the sixth, CJ is based in lower Manhattan, NY.

Hogg, who is show organiser, says this  event “intentionally presents a selection of small scale works of art, the largest unframed dimension of any piece in the show being 45cm. The idea is to give each artist the opportunity to show several works and for the works themselves to be affordable and fit easily into a domestic setting”.

He’s hoping to connect the “average viewer” with contemporary art and its different working methods as much as subject matter. Open Tuesday to Saturday from noon to 6pm; until November 28.
