#BREAKING Emergency services respond to Limerick city Centre stand off

UPDATE – all emergency crews have been stood down after the incident was brought to a conclusion with the man standing down.

EARLIER – CREWS from Limerick City Fire and Rescue, together with Emergency Paramedics and Gardai, including the Armed Regional Support Unit, are attending an incident on Mallow Street in the city.

Shortly after 8pm this Friday night, the alarm was raised of an incident unfolding at an apartment in the city Centre location involving a male.

Initial reports suggested that the male was armed with a knife and making threats from the apartment window.

Four units from Limerick City Fire and Rescue, including the Bronto elevated platform hoist, are at the scene.

The area around Mallow Street has been cordoned off while Gardai and all emergency services deal with the incident which is now understood to be a stand off between the male and the emergency responders.
