Limerick’s Iron Mountain sign German record deal

Iron Mountain-6

LIMERICK’s post-rock group Iron Mountain has signed a five album deal with German record label Prophecy Productions. They will release their debut album ‘Europe-wide’ in April 2016.
The label specialises in “wayside atmospheric music which defies categorisation” and has a healthy roster of bands in black/ dark metal and neo-folk genres, such as Finnish group Tenhi and French shoegaze band Alcest. Prophecy has a reputation for forging long-term collaborations with its acts and is considered to be a quality label by media and fans.
Iron Mountain can expect to gain valuable exposure to a willing audience in Europe and the US, lucrative territories for the label.
Iron Mountain formed in 2012 and features Damien Mullane (guitar), Matt Bashford (uilleann pipes/ low whistle), Ronan Ryan (transverse wooden flute), Stephen Hughes (bass) and Ray Murphy (drums).
The instrumental group played an impressive early afternoon set at Electric Picnic in September and will tour in Europe at the end of July.
No Limerick date has been arranged yet as piper Matt Bashford is engaged on a worldwide tour with Riverdance. In the meantime the other players are jamming and writing the second album and are “very excited” about the new material, drummer Ray Murphy told Limerick Post.
Prophecy Productions explained what drew them to the Limerick band, from the first listen to the band’s debut album ‘Unum’.
“It was as if Psychedelic, Kraut and Post Rock had dusted off the face of Irish Folk when Iron Mountain first erupted on Prophecy’s premises, immediately captivating us with an atmosphere at once archaic and modern.”

‘Unum’ is Iron Mountain’s debut album and was initially self-released by the band in small quantities in early 2015.
Prophecy will now re-issue the album with revised artwork on vinyl for the first time. Prophecy Productions will release Iron Mountain’s ‘Unum’ on Friday April 1.
The album can now be pre-ordered as Digipak CD and Gatefold LP from www.prophecy.de
