Gymnastics – Olympic stars come to Limerick

gymnasticsTHIS weekend, Olympic qualifiers Ellis O’Reilly and Kieran Behan will be in Limerick fro the Gymnastics Ireland National Championships. Over 400 gymnasts will be competing in the Men’s and Women’s Artistic National Championships in the University of Limerick, part of the Gymnastics Ireland National Series.

Ellis O’Reilly will compete on Saturday 14th May in the Women’s Artistic National Championships representing Renmore Gymnastics Club ahead of the 2016 European Championships in Bern, Switzerland which will be her final competition before she heads out to Rio to make history by being the first female gymnast to represent Ireland at an Olympic Games.

Kieran Behan will be wearing a different hat at the championships in acting as a judge, as Behan is on rest prioritising his build-up to the Games.  Boys and girls from across Ireland as young as seven years old will get to compete in front of the two gymnastics stars, many of them aspiring to follow in their footsteps along the Olympic path. This includes home grown rising Irish stars such as Casey Bell & Rhys McClenaghan both of whom are also slated to compete at the upcoming Europeans.
