As part of the search, every school bag and classroom was searched.

Upwards of 20 members searched the area as children remained locked out of the school on the nearby green fields area.image

The Limerick school is the third in Ireland to receive such a message this Tuesday morning which sparked the emergency evacuations.

A number of schools in the UK were also targeted in the hoax attacks on Monday.

Gardai are investigating the matter and the Army Bomb Disposal Unit was alerted.

Shortly after 12 noon, the scene was declared safe and the students were allowed to return to their classrooms.
