Camogie – Controversy denies Limerick

AM8U1396-copyLIMERICK’S camogie side were denied a famous Munster final victory last weekend in Kilmallock as near neighbours Cork secured a win in the eight minute of injury time.
Martin O’Shea played almost eight minutes of additional time in the second half which allowed Cork’s Katriona Mackey to pick up two points from play to secure a 0-12 to 0-10 win for the Leesiders.
Cork were ahead for most of the second half, before two Niamh Mulcahy scores brought the sides level and gave massive momentum to Limerick. It would have been easy to argue for a draw, but the added time denied John Tuohy’s side a third victory over Cork this season. Limerick will now look forward  to their All-Ireland Championship opener away to Wexford on 18th June and indeed a further meeting with Cork in July.
