THE sardonic, satirical and surreal Half Man Half Biscuit have released 14 albums since the debut album ‘Back in the DHSS’ topped the UK Indie Charts in 1985.The band’s biggest commercial success is that debut album and debut EP ‘The Trumpton Riots’ and its now legendary indie classic B-Side ‘All I want for Christmas is a Dukla Prague Away Kit’

Added to that the Birkenhead, Merseyside band are notoriously tour-shy and seldom play more that one or two gigs a year close to their homebase.

So it will come as a surprise to some that Limerick city can boast of having its very own Half Man Half Biscuit tribute band. Long time HMHB fan Niall Quinn of The Hitchers / Theme Tune Boy will bring his Tribute to HMHB to Kasbah Social Club on Saturday May 28.

Performing under the moniker Half ARSED Half Biscuit the band will be delivering a full two hour show of all the world’s Biccies favourites from a 30 year career.

Niall explained to Limerick Post that taking part in recent tribute nights to The Clash and David Bowie inspired his band to rediscover the Half Man Half Biscuit back catalogue.

“Over the past few years some of the gigs we’ve played have seen us do entire sets of other peoples songs – including the The Clash, The Ramones, Woody Guthrie and most recently David Bowie wherein a set full of The Thin White Dukes classics were blasted out to a stuffed Dolan’s Warehouse for Bowie’s months-mind back in February.”

“Rehearsing for it really helped install a proper gearbox in Theme Tune Boys engine and that entire process was so positive we’ve decided to present an opportunity to hear the wonderful songs of the incomparable genius of Half Man Half Biscuit, performed in a live environment to which they’re scarcely accustomed – Ireland.”

As well as the inimitable Half ARSED Half Biscuit imitating Half Man Half Biscuit, there will be Trumpton on the big screen and a ‘soft play area’ with free bananas.

Niall was also able to reveal that HAHB are thrilled to announce that the opening act, the Irish, all-female Bon Jovi tribute mBan Jovi, have cancelled.

Half ARSED Half Biscuit play their tribute show to Half Man Half Biscuit at Kasbah Social Club, Dolan’s on Saturday May 28.
