HERE’S a beaut for Saturday May 28 at Belltable. Billed as ‘Home Thoughts – Poetry, Memoir and Song’.

Limerick Writer Centre presents folk singer Eleanor Shanley and poet Gerald Dawe for a session of readings and songs. Their selection is based on places Dawe has written about, be it poetry or prose.

The Belfast man taught in NUIG while living in the West for the best of two decades and he has published nine volumes of poetry thus far in his life as an academic.

Known for her unique interpretation of Irish and Roots songs, Eleanor Shanley made her name with De Dannan in the 1990s. She has worked solo and with other artists since.
