An investigation has been launched by Gardai in County Limerick after a single car accident claimed the life of a young man in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Garda are investigating a single vehicle, fatal traffic collision, which occurred at 4.15am this Sunday June 5 at Dromsallagh, Cappamore, on the Cappamore to Murroe road.

One man believed to be in his late teens or early 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second man of similar age was removed to University Hospital Limerick.

Both men were traveling in the same car when it left the road and struck a ditch, a Garda spokesman said.

The road remains closed and Garda forensic collision investigators have begun an examination of the crash site.
