SURPRISING news from the gentle Kathy Tiernan of Limerick Art Society who is behind an outdoor art venture, displaying the work of 30 artists over a series of Sundays. Bedford Row – and not Adare as planned previously – is their home for August.

This summer showing embraces “both the wonderful newness of work by college students and recent graduates with older artists who have experienced the challenge of selling their art”.

Participating artists find their mixed media pieces on show on alternate weeks so no two visits by the public will view the same display.

“Thirty artists will exhibit. There is a mix ranging from Yvonne Edmonds who uses copper and batik in her work, to Helena Grimes, a recent graduate who designs the most wonderful cards and prints, right across the spectrum to the wonderful Anne Fitzgerald, an internationally recognised artist who paints the most magnificent seascapes”.

Watercolour, oil and acrylic paintings will dominate. As any sales are direct from artist to customer there is no commission involved, so both artist and the buyer benefit. For August Sundays only, from 12noon to 4pm; with the support of Limerick Arts Office.
