Screen shot 2016-08-22 at 13.29.16AS REPORTED in recent days by PostSport, South African Centre Jaco Taute is to join Munster on a five month contract. The centre will join up once more with Rassie Erasmus and is seen as a straight replacement for Francis Saili who is out until Christmas with a shoulder injury.

Only last week Erasmus had stated that he would wait until after the two preseason games to see if he needed to recruit a centre, but it now seems that teh South African has returned to his native land to secure the signing of the 25 year old, 6’3″ centre.

According to vodacomrugby.co.za

“Irish club Munster have signed Stormers full-back Jaco Taute on an initial five-month contract.

South African Sunday newspaper Rapport reports Munster have signed the South Africa as a replacement for the injured Francis Saili and that Western Province will not appose the move.

While Taute’s contract is only for five months, Munster’s Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus plans to extend it. Taute made his Springbok debut in 2012 and subsequently moved from the Lions to the Stormers.

He has since been plagued by several injuries which has kept his involvement with the Cape Town side to a minimum.

Taute’s WP team-mate Kobus van Wyk could also join him in Europe shortly with a move to Bordeaux in France. Van Wyk is reportedly being lined up as a “medical” replacement but could join the Sharks on his return as they are looking to sign the 24-year-old as a replacement for centre Paul Jordaan.”
