AS night follows day, the hurling championship in Limerick follows on from inter county heartache.
Less than a week after Limerick’s gallant minor side lost out to Tipperary in the All Ireland final, the club championships return for the final round of games.
Following on from round four’s big news, that Limerick, Munster and All Ireland champions Na Piarsaigh had been knocked out, attention this weekend turns to the confirmation of the semi final and quarter final spots from Group 1 and Group 2.
In Group 1, Ballybrown are top on seven points, alongside Kilmallock, while Doon are on six. This weekend’s clash between Kilmallock and Doon is the tie of the round, with Ballybrown also facing the unenviable task of facing a wounded Na Piarsaigh side, who ironically could play a major part in who makes it straight into the semi final.
In group 2, Adare will look to continue their 100 per cent start to the campaign with a win over Bruff. Bruff themselves have an outside chance of reaching third spot, depending on the fortunes of Ahane and Patrickswell, who face Knockainey and Murroe Boher respectively, both of whom (on one point) are in danger of facing into a relegation battle.
As the senior championship draws to a close, the every competitive Premier intermediate championship is entering round six of their seven rounds. Garryspillane remain on top, with five wins from five as they face Effin next.
