RETAILERS in Limerick have further cemented their position in the region and the country as those who continue to be at the forefront of driving customer excellence with two local businesses claiming top honours at Retail Excellence Awards 2017

Beating off hundreds of entries across a number of classes, Matthew Stephens Jewellers, O’Connell Street won Jewellery Store of the Year 2017 and Hook & Ladder, Sarsfield Street won Restaurant/Coffee Store of the Year 2017.

“Limerick has become a real centre for retail and we are delighted to award those who are at the fore of delivering superb service and retailing standards”, Lynn Drumgoole, Director of Communication at Retail Excellence Ireland said.

According to the judges, all of the finalists and in particular the winners displayed the highest standard of service, customer engagement, display and levels of investment which made choosing this year’s winners particularly difficult, they said.

Linda Barry, manager at Holland & Barrett, Parkway Shopping Centre was also shortlisted for Manager of the Year Award.

Matt Ryan, of the O’Connell Street jewellers, said of the win that it was a “huge honour and privilege”.

“Back in 2006 when we sat with architects and designers, we wanted to create something very special – the store was gutted and rebuilt to over 3,000 sq feet of retail luxury spread over three floors. Winning this coveted award is great recognition for all the hard work of early starts and late nights, as to what has been achieved by our incredible team.
