screen-shot-2016-11-11-at-21-41-04MUNSTER defeated the Maori All Blacks 27-14 at Thomond Park this evening. The four try win, makes it two victories in a week for Irish sides over New Zealand.

The game was preceded by an emotional Haka from the Maori, following a tribute to Anthony Foley. The Maori captain Ash Dixon, placed an All Black jersey with AF on the back, on the floor, before the traditional Haka was performed. Following the Haka, the jersey was presented to both of Anthony Foley’s sons, Tony and Dan.

First half tries from Munster’s Niall Scannell, Darren Sweetnam and a penalty try, saw Munster lead 17-14 at the break. The Maori had lead 14-5, following two tries in as many minutes from James Lowe and Ambrose Curtis.

The second half, an attritional affair, played in woeful conditions for rugby, saw Munster’s Ronan O’Mahony score following a Duncan Williams kick through. The night was capped with a man of the match performance from Robin Copeland, fittingly wearing Munster’s number 8 jersey.
