Gardai in Mayorstone in Limerick are investigating the stabbing incident

A STABBING incident in Limerick city overnight this Sunday has left a 37-year-old woman in critical but stable condition at University Hospital Limerick.

The victim, who was found afterLimerick gardai were alerted to a disturbance at Hassett Villas in Thomndgate, was found to have suffered stab wounds at the scene.

Gardai and emergency paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 12:30am on Sunday morning.

The woman was initially treated at the scene before being brought to the University Hospital Limerick for further treatment.

The Limerick woman’s condition is described as critical but stable.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has been detained at Henry Street Garda Station in Limerick for questioning under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination.
