US firm, Acacia Communications plans to hire 30 new employees as the NASDAQ listed company establishes its European headquarters in Limerick.

The firm, who is a leading provider of high-speed coherent optical interconnect products, made the announcement this Wednesday morning that it has established headquarters in Limerick.

The Limerick facility will support operations for Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific (EMEA-APAC) and has benchmarked 30 new roles that will need to be filled in the areas of sales, supply chain and finance.

“Ireland’s highly-skilled workforce, expansive infrastructure and pro-business environment, specifically in the Limerick area, makes it an ideal location for Acacia’s EMEA-APAC headquarters,” said Colm Cryan, MD of Acacia’s Irish subsidiary.

“We are delighted to be here and appreciate the welcome that we have received from the local agencies and companies.”

Acacia Communications develops, manufactures and sells high-speed coherent optical interconnect products that are designed to transform communications networks through improvements in performance, capacity and cost.

The Limerick project has been supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.

Headquartered in Massachusetts, Acacia say that the Limerick facility will offer geographic diversity making it easier for the firm to interact with its customers and suppliers in the EMEA-APAC regions.
