#BREAKING Man sustained gunshot wound at UHL chapel in Limerick

A SHOOTING incident at the University Hospital Limerick is under investigation this Wednesday afternoon after a man sustained a wound to his chest.

The incident occurred at the chapel adjacent to UHL shortly before 3pm with the discovery being made a short time after.

An elderly man sustained a single gunshot would to the chest, it is understood.

Gardai say that they are not treating the incident as suspicious and are not seeking anyone else in the connection with the shooting.

The male was unresponsive at the time he was found.

The area has been sealed off from the public while preliminary investigations take place.
