Five lines of a Limerick up for €500?

WORD from Dominic Taylor is that the 2017 Bring your Limericks to Limerick International Poetry Competition expands into a three day festival of literature, arts and culture.

It will take place from Friday August 25 to Sunday 27, with the final of this established competition taking place on the Saturday in Dolan’s on the Dock Road.

A new festival director has been appointed, Lisa Gibbons. There’s more, with a new website launched and details of this packed weekend are available at https://limericksfest.wixsite.com/limerickliteraryfest

Entries are encouraged for the competition. Local, national and international aspirants can go on-line at www.facebook.com/limerickcompetition; at the LimericksFest website or pick up an entry form from your library and various venues around the area.

“First prize for the winning Limerick this year is €500, not bad for a five line poem,” Dominic observes.
