LIMERICK’S streets and architecture are inspiration to a youth Dance Fusion project at Dance Limerick in August for teens aged 13 and upwards. Taking place in August, look forward to two weeks of intense training in a variety of dance styles, from hip hop to the latest street moves.

The project is led by Dublin Youth Dance Company’s Justine Doswell and Limerick based street dancer Tobi Omoteso. Let Emer Casey, working in communications at the St John’s dance resource, introduce these facilitators.

“Justine is a freelance contemporary dancer, dance teacher, actress and model based in Dublin, with years of experience working with young people introducing them to the exciting world of dance.

“Choreographer and dancer Tobi lives in Limerick. She works with many different dance styles including hip hop and break dance.”

‘Summer Dance Fusion’, the formal title, will run in two phases. First are daily sessions from Tuesday August 8 to Friday 11 and again Monday 14 to Friday 18, from 10am to 3pm.

The second phase is a rehearsal day falling a month lateron Sunday September 17 to gear up for a Culture Night evening performance on Friday September 22.

The opportunity will be open to all, with no requirement of previous dance experience. Explore on www.dancelimerick.ie

“Participants will work in a fun, creative and supportive environment and learn basic technique and movement vocabulary as well as developing physical strength, co-ordination and confidence,” Emer promises. “The energetic and lively daily sessions will focus on a dynamic fusion of contemporary dance, that combines many elements of different dance genres, in partnership with urban culture’s latest street and hip-hop techniques.”

Nice work in a supported, dynamic environment when during school and college holidays.
