FAVOURITES Na Piarsaigh displayed no mercy as they dished-out a whopping 30-point (6-22 to 0-10) defeat to poor Knockainey in Caherconlish, a result that propelled Shane O’Neill’s side to top position in Group Two of the Credit Union Limerick Senior Hurling Championship.

Limerick under 21s Peter Casey and Conor Boylan were among the goal-scorers, as was former underage star David Dempsey, only a few days overage this season.

Knockainey face-off against Bruff in the relegation final.

Champions Patrickswell and Adare are also through to the quarter-finals from Group Two, with the latter 3-28 to 2-9 winners over Monaleen. The ‘well were much too good for Cappamore.

In Group One, Kilmallock remain unbeaten after a slick 3-27 to 0-13 win against relegation-threatened Bruff in Kilbreedy. Under-21 Oisin O’Reilly hit a fine 1-5 from play.

Although Doon beat last year’s finalists (1-17 to 0-17), both teams progress to the quarters. Ahane overcame South Liberties but were unable to close the scoring gap between themselves and Ballybrown to qualify.

Quarter-finals (Saturday, September 16): Adare v Doon and Ballybrown v Patrickswell. Semi-finalists: Na Piarsaigh and Kilmallock.
