LIMERICK Brand Agency, The Pudding has been nominated for an Irish Design Institute Award for the logo it created for an Irish hotel brand.

]The logo was as a result of The Pudding’s rebrand of the Osprey Hotel in Kildare which is part of the UK and Irish hotel group, Prem Group.

The independent brand agency which has offices in Limerick and Dublin will this Friday evening find out if its innovative concept, based on the hotel’s architecture, has been successful in the Irish Design Institute Awards.

Gillian Horan, CEO of The Pudding explained the challenge behind the rebrand:

“Over the last few years, an array of disparate identities and communication had originated from the hotel and its sub-brands which had diluted the hotel brand. Osprey Hotel required an identity that would be robust enough to live as a stand-alone brand but also flexible enough to align the varying sub-brands within the hotel and the hotel’s strategy going forward. The identity needed to be sleek and modern in order to reflect the 4 star status of the hotel”.

Speaking about the logo and the concept behind it, Creative Lead for The Pudding, Eva Shortt explained:

“Our design process began by examining the distinctively unique architecture of the building. We identified many different angles and shapes that were characteristic of each facet of the Osprey Hotel. In order to encapsulate the idea that so many things go on in this one location we decided to place these different lines within a shape that represents the Osprey, a circle. This balanced shape is offset by dynamic lines. The Osprey Hotel logo is created from a combination of aspects from each of the sub-brand logos. The overall aim for the visual identity was to create a visual aesthetic that reflected the 4 star quality of the hotel. The minimal clean lines of the identity suggest confidence, clarity and direction.”

CEO of The Pudding Gillian Horan added: “The logo has been specially crafted to reflect the inherent qualities of the Osprey Hotel Brand. “We are not regular in size, shape or character.” This is communicated in the brand’s design. Overall this identity is modern and fresh and it successfully aligns the varying aspects of the Osprey Hotel brand. The identity is essentially a flexible framework which the hotel can expand upon over the years if they so desire. The possibilities for this identity are endless.”

Rebekah Lavelle, Sales & Marketing Business Relationship Manager, PREM Group said:

“From the initial contact with Gillian and her team, it was evident that there was a sincere passion for branding and developing effective strategies according to our desired wants and needs, whilst also giving valued perspective on customer perception and realities. The team have acute attention to detail and understanding a company’s objectives, this was followed through with extensive design and concept proposals. The team were extremely flexible and open to any design and concept requests making the working relationship seamless”

As well as having rebranded the Osprey Hotel, The Pudding are working closely with a number of leading brands explains Gillian Horan.

“In recent month’s we have worked with a number of brands including Conrad Dublin, fashion designer Emma Manley, leading events agency Cogs & Marvel, who have been nominated for an EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award since The Pudding’s rebrand of the agency, InterContintental Dublin and CareBright Community, Ireland’s first Dementia Care Community. 2017 has seen us work with some exciting brands in the technology, cosmetic and renewable energy sectors including Travelwin, a travel tech brand and Ionic Consulting, a rebrand which was part of an Irish buy out of a UK company”

“This is an exciting time for our own brand. We have recently signed a number of exciting clients. Brands need to disrupt. They need to stand out from the crowd. To do that they need to get clarity on who they are as a company. We take our clients on a journey of brand discovery using our signature framework to help build strong and compelling brands from the inside out. We are passionate in providing this clarity to the brands we work with to drive tangible business results and deliver a return on investment for them”.
