LIMERICK childcare professionals are being offered free training in sign language and sensory integration to ensure all children can fully access their services.

57 people are being offered the course as part of a €500,000 investment to ensure that children with disabilities can attend free pre-school services. The places are being made available in courses on sign language, promoting language and social skills of children and specialised supports for children with complex needs.

Minister for Children Katherine Zappone says the training is being delivered under the Government’s Access Inclusion Model (AIM) which was launched 18-months ago.

“If we are to develop truly accessible affordable quality childcare then it must be open to every child in Limerick City and County,” she said.
