response we got. I was amazed with
the people who participated and the
support from everyone else in the

tremendous teamwork from all at

The thought of jumping from an
aeroplane and falling through the sky
would have most of us shaking in our
boots, but the people at ARISE are
made of tougher stuff! When they set
their hearts on fundraising for the
Milford Care Centre, nothing was going
to stand in their way…..not even the
weather! After their first attempt at
skydiving was foiled by the rain, their
perseverance paid off and on Sunday
27th September, 2015, they once again
boarded a bus in Raheen and made the
early morning trip to the Irish Parachute
Club in Edenderry, Co. Offaly.
“The support of companies like ARISE
is fundamental to the Milford Care
Centre,” says Martin Dowling from

of what we accomplished and at the
end of the day we got fantastic results
for a very good cause that is the Milford
Care Centre.”
In the weeks leading up to the event,
participants reached out to their
colleagues, friends and families for
donations, and a fantastic team effort
saw the organisation of a bake sale,
coffee morning, raffles and auction at
the ARISE building in Raheen. The
generosity of clients, suppliers and
local businesses was overwhelming
with donations pouring in from Vodafone,
ARISE, Harmonics, GreenIT, O’Carroll
Fitzgerald Project Management, Jobs.

being a fundraiser for a fantastic cause
like Milford Care Centre, it was a great
team bonding event that brought a lot
of people together. The overall
atmosphere leading up to the jump and
especially on the day is one I will
always remember.” The team deserves a hearty
congratulations for exceeding the
overall target of €10K; and, after
covering the cost of the skydive, gave a
total donation of €7046.50 to the
Milford Care Centre. Mr. Pat Gilmartin,
Milford Care Centre Chairperson
expressed his appreciation: “On behalf
of Milford, we would like to thank all the
staff engaged in this fundraising venture
and all those who supported them.
Fundraising is vital to the financing of
Milford’ services, and particularly at
this time as we are embarking on a
major expansion project, building a new
hospice incorporating single rooms for
all service users, and we will hopefully
serve the needs of the people of the
mid-west well into the future. Once
again, many thanks to ARISE and its
staff for the generous support.”
