THE Limerick senior football and hurling teams have been named ahead of this weekend's action. The footballers will face Leitrim on Sunday at 2pm in the National Football League, while the hurlers will travel to Sixmilebridge in Clare on Saturday night (7pm) to face the 'Banner' in the Waterford Crystal Cup. IT has been announced in the last few minutes that Northampton Saints centre James Downey have signed a two year deal with Munster Rugby. Downey (30) who had a previous stint with Munster (06/07), joined Northampton Saints at the start of the 2007/2008 season and quickly established himself as a regular in their match day squad. In November 2010 he made his 100th appearance for the club and to date has made 135 appearances scoring 12 tries.
The Ireland team to play Wales in the RBS 6 Nations Championship on Sunday, February 5th in Aviva Stadium has been named. There are three changes to the side that lined out against the same opposition in Ireland’s last game in the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
The Ireland Women’s Team to play Wales in their opening game of the Women’s RBS 6 Nations Championship in Ashbourne RFC on Friday has been named. The side has a new look and includes two new caps in the starting fifteen and a further four uncapped players in the replacements.
