Ireland defence coach Les Kiss was in the RTE studios last Sunday morning to make the draws for the AIB Cup and AIB Junior Cup semi-finals live on 2FM’s Sportsbag programme.

Garryowen, who continued their fine cup record with a 16-6 quarter-final triumph over Blackrock, have been drawn away to Dolphin or Galwegians in the second semi-final. This game will take place on December 19, in what can promise to be another tough encounter for the Dooradoyle side.

Revenge was sweet for Garryowen who, when playing Blackrock earlier in the season, where on the end of a 48-14 pasting. This was not the case last Saturday at Stradbrook as the Limerick Light Blues took control of the game from the start.

An intercept try from Robert Meyer, converted by Conor Murray was added to by three penalties from the impressive Murray.

After an assured third round victory over St. Mary’s College, this win, which sees Garryowen through to the semi-final stage for an incredible fourth time in five years, will surely help build their confidence after a rough start to the AIB League.

Garryown currently lie in eight place with one win from four games.
