IN the first four weeks of 2012 a 39% increase in the theft of valuables from vehicles has been recorded at Roxboro Garda Station according to figures confirmed to the Limerick Post. Henry Street Station has confirmed that there has also been a considerable rise in the theft of vehicles with 11% of all burglaries related to the theft of car keys and the subsequent theft of cars.
THOUSANDS of Limerick families are putting their lives at risk by ignoring warnings about a potentially deadly gas. Almost one in 10 Limerick homes which were tested for the killer gas, Radon, were found to have potentially harmful levels of the gas, which can cause lung cancer.
TWO Limerick women have been given national recognition for projects which aim to improve the future for patients in Ireland. Bruree native, Anna Maria Verling, and her team, developed the project ‘Labelling Stillbirth-Does it Make a Difference?’, which has been shortlisted in the Hope category.

MORE than 200 residents of Parteen, Ardnacrusha and Clonlara packed a public meeting this week to lay plans for a campaign of opposition to the emerging preferred route for the Limerick Northern Distributor road. The meeting was attended by all councillors from the Killaloe electoral area as well as Deputies Willie O’Dea, Michael McNamara and Kieran O’Donnell.
FIVE weeks after the chairman of the Shannon Airport Authority (SAA) failed to attend a meeting specifically convened to address the problems associated with Shannon Airport, a letter, explaining the reasons for his absence, has been received by Limerick City Council. Expressing his disappointment that he found himself unable to address the specially convened meeting, which was held on November 28, Brian O’Connell, outgoing chairman of the Shannon Airport Authority, said he appreciated that the mayor and councillors were disappointed that he was unable to attend.
